We wrote cinquain poems during our bee unit (post coming soon) and the kids loved it. So we did another one about Spring last week and wrote them on raindrops. Here is a picture of some of the poems in the hallway and a close up of one. There are some good examples of cinquain poems online that we used when introducing them. We created one as a class as an example and also reviewed nouns, adjectives, and verbs.

First Blog!
Welcome to our blog! We have been following several first grade blogs for several weeks now and thought it was time to start our own. A little bit about us: We are both graduates of the West Virginia University 5-year Teacher Education program with specializations in Early Childhood. This is our second year teaching and teach first grade at the same school in Martinsburg, WV. Our classes are comprised of 25 students. Megan is married and has a black lab, Bella. Mary will be married in July and has an orange kitty, Oliver. We are excited to begin sharing our ideas and what we do in our classrooms. If you have comments, questions, or anything to add, please do. Happy blogging!
